The panel’s 11 to 1 vote, with one abstention, on Thursday will guide the nation’s doctors, schools and local policy makers advising parents of the 28 million U.S. children in the age group.
The Food and Drug Administration earlier this week cleared the third Pfizer-BioNTech shot for the school-age children, to be given five months after the second dose. The extra dose is one-third the amount that those 12 years old and above receive.
